Mansoura University President Participates in the Iraq Education 2025 Conference, Attended by the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and International Ranking Institutions

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, participated in the first day of the second edition of the Iraq Education 2025 Conference, held from October 11 to 13 at the University of Baghdad, Iraq. The conference was sponsored and attended by Prof. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Iraqi Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and featured a wide range of international experts and representatives from Times Higher Education, Clarivate, Elsevier, and QS, as well as Dr. Ola Lawrence, Advisor to the Egyptian Knowledge Bank. Other attendees included presidents of Iraqi public and private universities, including Prof. Hassan Shaker Magdy, President of Future University, and a group of Arab academic leaders and diplomats.
The conference aims to formulate future policies and strategies for higher education by providing a comprehensive platform that brings together universities, educational and research institutions, and local and international companies. To discuss the most prominent challenges facing the higher education sector in Iraq and the Arab region, with a focus on improving the quality of education, developing the scientific research system, and expanding the scope of international partnerships that support innovation and globalization.
In a press statement, Prof. Cherif Khater expressed his pride in Mansoura University's participation in this major Arab academic event, commending the generous invitation from the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Iraqi Embassy in Cairo, and the qualitative efforts being made to advance Iraqi universities and enhance their standing in international rankings. He pointed out that such meetings represent an important platform for exchanging expertise and successful experiences between Egyptian and Arab universities. He emphasized that the conference is a model for scientific integration among Arab countries and reflects a serious approach to developing university education and keeping pace with global transformations in the fields of knowledge and scientific research. He added that Egypt's active participation in this international forum confirms its leading position in supporting joint Arab education. It aligns with the Egyptian state's orientations, Egypt Vision 2030, and the national strategy, which places education and scientific research at the forefront of sustainable development priorities. The strategy seeks to promote innovation and digital transformation, and expand the scope of international cooperation in academic and research fields. Mansoura University consistently seeks to expand its Arab and international partnerships in the fields of education, scientific research, and digital transformation, contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and enhancing the role of universities as a key driver of development and innovation in societies.
The first sessions of the conference witnessed active participation from the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, represented by Dr. Ola Lawrence, the bank's academic advisor, who reviewed Egypt's pioneering experience in building an integrated national system that makes learning and scientific research resources available to all segments of the academic community. She said that the Egyptian Knowledge Bank has become a model for the digital transformation of higher education through its partnerships with international publishing institutions, providing a knowledge-based environment that enables universities to enhance the quality of education and scientific research, and supporting their presence in prestigious international rankings.
The conference also honored the winners of the Iraqi Science Day Awards. The Iraqi Future University, headed by Prof. Hassan Shaker Magdy, won four distinguished awards, including the Best Private University Award for Academic and Research Performance, the Excellence Award in Scientific Research at the level of Iraqi universities, the Student Innovation and Creativity Award for Outstanding Applied Research Projects, and the Community Service Award in recognition of its development and community initiatives.
It is worth noting that the Iraqi Future University has an academic and scientific partnership with Mansoura University, which includes areas of cooperation in developing joint academic programs and supporting training and scientific research, enhancing integration between Egyptian and Iraqi universities within the framework of joint Arab cooperation.
This partnership also includes Future University hosting graduate programs offered by Mansoura University in a number of scientific, medical, and engineering disciplines, based on the latest Egyptian educational and academic systems. This will enhance the university's internationalization efforts and provide Iraqi and Arab students with the opportunity to enroll in internationally accredited programs without having to move abroad to study. At the same time, it will support the transfer of academic and research expertise from Mansoura University to Iraqi universities, and enhance efforts to build human capacity and develop research staff in the region.
