In a well-deserved reward for his scientific efforts in the field of vertebrate paleontology, Prof. Hisham Salam - founder of the Mansoura University Vertebrate Paleontology Center - was awarded the international Robert Lynn Carroll Award, one of the largest specialization awards in the world, for the year 2023 from the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology (SVP) in the USA and is the world's largest organization in vertebrate paleontology.

This award is given to only one scientist in the world annually, in recognition of scientific excellence and clear contributions in this field, the winner does not apply for this award, but is secretly nominated (without his knowledge), and due to the intensity of competition, it has been customary to be nominated for it several times, but Salam has a clear imprint in enriching the field of vertebrate paleontology not only in the Middle East and North Africa, but also in the world , so he won it the first time he was nominated for it. Professor Hisham Salam has been nominated by three scholars from prestigious foreign universities with four students from the research team Salam Lab. The award is scheduled to be presented at the annual meeting of the Society, which will be held next October in the state of Ohio, USA, with an expected large attendance of vertebrate paleontologists around the world.
