The Salam Lab research team from the Mansoura University Center for Vertebrate Paleontology participated in the International Conference of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology (SVP), which was held in its 83rd session from October 18 to 21, 2023 in Ohio, USA. The Salam Lab research team was the only representative of the Arabs and the Middle East in this major scientific conference, which is considered the largest scientific conference in the field of vertebrate fossils and is attended annually by thousands of the most prominent scientists from various parts of the world.

The research team participating in the Salam Lab team included Prof. Hesham Salam, an Egyptian paleontologist and professor of vertebrate paleontology at Mansoura University and the American University in Cairo, along with Ms. Sanaa Al-Sayed, an assistant lecturer in the Faculty of Science at Mansoura University, who is sent to the University of Michigan in the United States to study for a PhD degree, and Mr. Bilal Salem, assistant lecturer at Benha University and a member of the Salam Lab team, and Mr. Abdullah Gohar, a member of the Salam Lab team.

The research team’s participation included (7) research summaries that presented the latest scientific discoveries of the Salam Lab team, including (2) research summaries that were presented as talk sessions and (5) other research summaries that were presented as poster sessions. The results reached by the research team aroused great interest from the most prominent scientists in the field of vertebrate paleontology, with attendees admiring the solidity of the scientific content.

At the closing ceremony of the conference, the Salam Lab team won (5) awards for scientific excellence in vertebrate paleontology, including the Robert Lynn Carroll International Award, which is considered a medal for scientific excellence in this field, for Prof. Hisham Salam. In addition to (4) other awards for the rest of the research team members, which includes Ms. Sanaa Al-Sayed, Ms. Shorouk Al-Ashqar, Mr. Abdullah Gohar, and Mr. Bilal Salem.
