Mansoura University wins the first Master's program in the Middle East and Germany for people with disabilities in sports psychology.

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, announced that the university has won the 1st international project of its kind in the Middle East and Germany to establish a specialized Master's program in sports psychology for people with disabilities. The program is funded by €400,000 from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). This project is in implementation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to prioritize people with disabilities, fully integrate them into society, and provide them with equal opportunities that enable them to participate effectively alongside other members of society. In implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. It also falls within the directives of Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the ministry's plan in this regard.

The project will run from 2025 to 2028, in partnership with the German Martin Luther University and Regensburg University, under the leadership of Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and the supervision of Prof. Amr Rushdi Saad, Professor of Sports Psychology at the Faculty of Physical Education.

Prof. Cherif Khater siad that the program is the first accredited master's degree in sports psychology for people with disabilities, offered in collaboration with the Martin Luther University and Regensburg University. It is also the first of its kind in Egypt, the Middle East, and Germany, reflecting Mansoura University's position as a leading educational institution striving to innovate and address societal challenges. He indicated that the project falls within the framework of the university's efforts to achieve the political leadership's directives regarding empowering people with disabilities and implementing the Egyptian state's sustainable development strategy, "Egypt Vision 2030," by supporting youth, developing their capabilities, and providing full support for students with disabilities to integrate them into the university community.

Prof. Tarek Ghalwash emphasized the importance of the project's international impact, noting that the university's winning reflects the confidence of international research institutions in Mansoura University's capabilities and enhances opportunities for developing scientific research and linking it to the needs of society, particularly in humanitarian fields such as sports psychology for people with disabilities.

Participating in the project's implementation are Prof. Oliver Stoll, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Martin Luther University, and Prof.  Rainer Schillermann, Professor of Social and Health Sciences at the University of Regensburg.

It is worth noting that Mansoura University previously received funding from the DAAD for the period from 2021 to 2023 through a project presented by Prof. Amr Rushdi Saad. This project enabled 48 faculty members and their assistants to attend workshops in Germany and resulted in the establishment of the university's first laboratory specializing in sports psychology for people with disabilities, paving the way for this larger project.

With this achievement, Mansoura University continues to strengthen its academic leadership and its active engagement in developing university education and scientific research, serving diverse segments of society and in line with the Egyptian state's vision and global trends to support and empower people with disabilities.
