Prof. Cherif Khater Announces a New International Achievement in 13 Academic Subjects for 2025
Mansoura University Stands Out as the Only Egyptian University in the Global Ranking of 151-200 in Water Resources.
Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, announced that the university has achieved a new international milestone, entering the list of the top 500 universities globally in 13 academic subjects for 2025, according to the Shanghai Ranking of Academic Subjects (Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2025), compared to only 11 subjects last year. He emphasized that this development reflects the university's research and academic strength and demonstrates the excellence of its faculty and researchers. He explained that the university's achievements this year are the culmination of significant efforts to enhance international publications, develop research infrastructure, and support disciplines of academic and societal priority. He also noted that these results reflect the university's commitment to implementing the state's directives to raise the quality of university education and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian universities. He pointed out that the university is continuing to support the scientific research system and provide an advanced academic environment that contributes to improving its international rankings.
The university president congratulated the Mansoura University community—faculty members, researchers, staff, and students—and commended the efforts of all university sectors, particularly the postgraduate studies and research sector, in developing research policies and supporting international publications.
Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, said that the remarkable progress in the Shanghai Ranking reflects a clear strategy implemented within the university to support research disciplines and enhance international scientific cooperation. This has contributed to raising the university's standing locally, regionally, and internationally, and he expressed his hope for continued progress in the coming years.
The Shanghai Ranking is one of the most prominent global rankings based on rigorous research criteria, including: volume of scientific publications, journal quality, citation rate, international collaboration, and the number of faculty members who have received prestigious scientific awards.
Mansoura University distinguished itself with a unique achievement, ranking first among Egyptian universities in the field of water resources, placing in the 151-200 global category. This reflects the university's leadership in this vital field, which is linked to issues of sustainability and water security.
The university maintained its leading position among Egyptian universities in four key disciplines. It ranked first nationally in mathematics (ranked 151-200 globally), civil engineering (ranked 201-300 globally), veterinary medicine (maintained its position in the advanced global category of 76-100), and nursing (ranked 101-150 globally).
The ranking also saw the university achieve second place nationally in a number of other disciplines. The university advanced globally in Mechanical Engineering, ranking in the 301-400 range, and in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, ranking in the 401-500 range. Artificial Intelligence and Public Health also ranked in the 301-400 range, while Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences maintained their global ranking in the 201-300 range.
Nationally, the university ranked third in Dentistry and Oral Sciences, ranking in the 201-300 range, and in Agricultural Sciences, ranking in the 151-200 range. It also ranked fourth nationally in Food Science and Technology, ranking in the 301-400 range.
