The Minister of Higher Education visits the new liver transplantation building at Mansoura University that costs 500 million pounds

Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour - Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research visited the new liver transplantation building at the Gastrointestinal Surgery Center Mansoura University in the presence of Dr. Ayman Mokhtar - Governor of Dakahlia, Prof. Cherif Khater - President of Mansoura University, Prof. Mustafa Refaat – Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities, Prof. Ashraf Shouma-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Elsharawey Kamal- Executive director of university hospitals and medical centers, Prof. Mohamed Abdelwahab- supervisor of liver transplantation team, Prof. Amgad Fouad- head of the surgery department, and Prof. Helmy Ezzat- director of the Gastrointestinal Center.

The minister also inspected the new liver transplantation building at Mansoura University, at a total cost of about 500 million pounds, which is the first in Egypt and the Middle East. The liver transplant program at Mansoura University operates in part of the building of the Gastrointestinal Surgery Center on only 20 beds, till now  1000 liver transplantation operations has been done in the center from all governorates of Egypt, including 80 cases from Arab countries such as (Libya - Yemen - Iraq - Jordan - Sudan - Palestine - Syria - Somalia - Senegal).

Prof. Cherif Khater said that the building consists of 9 floors of donations from civil society to contribute to eliminating waiting lists. The building contains the ground floor dedicated to services and mechanization, 6 outpatient clinic rooms, 3 operating rooms, 14 intensive care beds, and 5 beds for recovery, and 56 beds for patients to stay, and the 9^th  floor includes endoscopy units, research and laboratories.
