President of Mansoura University participates in the delegation of the Ministry of Higher Education to discuss the British experience in linking graduates to the labor market.

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, participated in the delegation headed by Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the United Kingdom, to participate in a group of joint dialogue sessions with a number of parties and institutions concerned with the development of higher education in the United Kingdom to find out about the latest achievements of universities and professional development centers and their mechanisms of action within the "Higher Education Program for Vocational Guidance for Employment" project, with the aim of discussing ways to enhance joint cooperation, activating international partnerships with those parties, and formulating joint work mechanisms, the sessions dealt with the experience of professional development centers in British higher education institutions and mechanisms for linking graduates to the labor market.

During the visit, the Minister of Higher Education signed a cooperation protocol under a joint agreement between the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Development of the United Kingdom, represented by the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Egypt, and The International Labor Organization (ILO) in Cairo, and the HE Advance Foundation responsible for training and qualification in British higher education institutions.

The Minister of Higher Education spoke about the most important axes of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research, which was launched last March, and the maximization of the role of the various institutions of the Ministry in achieving the active role in supporting development in various economic, social, urban and environmental fields, by defining sustainable development goals and the concepts of the fourth generation of universities and economic activities in Egypt to achieve Egypt’s vision 2030.He also pointed to the importance of the integration between educational institutions through regional circles, and integration with the regions by meeting their needs, and with the labor market and government institutions partner in the strategy, referring to the role of professional development centers in universities, and their role in qualifying graduates, and providing them with the skills necessary for the requirements of the labor market.

Prof. Cherif Khater talked about the importance of cooperation and partnership with international organizations and institutions concerned with the development of higher education, in a way that contributes to achieving Egypt's strategy for sustainable development, "Egypt's Vision 2030.", pointing out that the sessions included discussing the concept of a comprehensive vision for education between the academic and professional path, and the importance of integration between them through academic programs and certificates, in addition to setting up programs in innovation, entrepreneurship and professional skills development.

Prof. Sherif Khater gave a presentation about Mansoura University, which included its ancient history and its scientific and research potential. He also presented the experience of Mansoura University to establish professional development centers that  link the graduate to the labor market through improving his skills, training and preparation for the labor market. He also discussed the university's vision and the role of professional development centers which is consistent and achieves the strategic vision of Education 2030, that aims to provide high quality education and training for all without discrimination, and within an efficient, fair, sustainable and flexible institutional system. It should be based on the learner and trainee who is able to think and who is technically and technologically proficient, and also contribute to building an integrated personality and unlocking its capabilities to the fullest extent.

The dialogue sessions were attended by university presidents representing the seven regions of Egypt: Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, Prof. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Abdel Aziz Qanswa, President of Alexandria University, Prof. El-Sayed Abdel-Azim El-Sharkawy, President of Suez University, Prof. Mostafa Abdel-Khalek, President of Sohag University, Prof. Ahmed El-Manshawy, President of Assuit University, Prof. Essam El-Din Farhat, President of Minia University.

The Egyptian delegation also included  Prof. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities, Prof. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for strategic planning, training and qualification for the labor market, Counselor Ahmed Ezzat, Deputy Ambassador of Egypt to the United Kingdom, Prof. Rasha Kamal, Egyptian Cultural Attaché and Director of the Educational Mission in the United Kingdom, and Mr. Abdullah Hussein Hamouda, consultant to the ministry for the implementation of the central unit for employment centers.
