The General Society of Gastrointestinal Surgery and Oncology in Rome unanimously elects Prof. Mohamed Abdel Wahab as its president and grants him an international honorary fellowship

In the presence of more than 2,000 scientists in the field of gastrointestinal surgery, liver surgery, and oncology from 70 countries, the Egyptian scientist, Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel Wahab, professor of gastrointestinal and liver surgery at Mansoura University and supervisor of the university’s liver transplantation team, was officially elected unanimously as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Society for Gastrointestinal Surgery and Oncology for two years until 2025. Prof. Mohamed Abdel Wahab was also granted an international honorary fellowship, this came during the General Assembly meeting on September 13th ,2023 in the Italian capital, “Rome.”
The General Assembly also approved Egypt’s organization of the International Conference (World Congress) of Gastrointestinal and Liver Surgeons in November of next year 2024.
The representative of Egypt was chosen as president of the association and granted him an honorary fellowship in view of his efforts, research, and global excellence in this specialty.
The Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Treasurer and Secretary of the Association were elected from Turkey, Japan and Italy, and members of the Board of Directors were from the United States of America, Japan, Italy, France, Germany, South Korea and Romania.
Egypt was also chosen to host the conference due to its prestigious international standing and the political and peace stability it enjoys
