President of Mansoura University presents the university's experience in achieving sustainable development at the 5th Arab Conference on Higher Education and Sustainable Development.

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, witnessed the inauguration of the activities of the Fifth Arab Conference on Higher Education and Sustainable Development entitled” The Role of Universities in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals”, which is organized by the Arab Organization for Administrative Development in the League of Arab States in cooperation with the Association of Arab Universities.

In the presence of Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, President of the Association of Arab Universities, Prof. Nasser Al-Qahtani, Director-General of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development,

with the participation of a number of university presidents from various Arab countries.

Prof. Cherif Khater, participated at the conference’s events, speaking in the first session of the conference entitled “The vision of academic leaders for the role of universities in achieving sustainable development goals,” headed by Prof. Nasser Al-Qahtani, Director General of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development. He gave a presentation entitled “Mansoura University’s experience in achieving sustainable development, Egypt’s Vision 2030”. He reviewed the history of Mansoura University, which has been established for more than 50 years. He also reviewed the university’s financial and human capabilities that made it at the forefront of Egyptian and Arab universities, he added that the university focused in its strategic plan on achieving the goals of sustainable development, which made it the first Egyptian government university accredited by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Education.

Mansoura University has obtained the first place as the best environmentally friendly university and the best innovative university at the level of Delta universities, as well as its interest in implementing sustainable development goals, which was reflected in the university achieving advanced positions locally and internationally in international university rankings. He also referred to the role of the university in actively participating in supporting social responsibility activities through the activities of the community service sector, which included comprehensive convoys, seminars, eradicating illiteracy, participating in presidential initiatives, confronting the Corona pandemic, as well as supporting and providing entrepreneurship consultations through the university's professional development centers, holding employment forums and looking forward to the future by establishing new faculties and specializations that keep pace with the labor market to obtain better employment opportunities, openness in cooperation with international universities, implementation of environmentally friendly projects and buildings, and doing research and applied projects. The university also paid great attention to the mechanism of confronting climate change, which is consistent with achieving sustainable development goals. He also reviewed the university’s plan to implement the medical city in the city of Gamasa, that has the university's centers of medical excellence and transplant programs.

Prof. Ahmed bin Salem Al-Amer, President of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, gave a presentation entitled” Illuminations about the experience of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in achieving sustainable development’.

Prof. Mansour Al-Awar, President of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University in the United Arab Emirates, gave a presentation entitled “Education for Sustainable Development”.

Prof. Amr Adly, President of the Egyptian-Japanese University of Science and Technology, gave a presentation entitled “The Experience of the Egyptian-Japanese University of Science and Technology”.

Prof. Muhammad Al-Wedyan, President of Amman Arab University in Jordan, gave a presentation entitled “Requirements for Integration of Arab Universities in Plans to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals”.

Prof. Adnan Ibrahim, on behalf of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Iraq, gave a presentation entitled “The Role of Iraqi Universities in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals”.
