A doctor at Mansoura University wins first place in the “Arab Doctor” Award for the year 2023

On September 7th , 2023, Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, witnessed the honoring of the Egyptian doctor who won first place in the Arab Doctor Award, Prof. Ahmed Abdel Rahman Shokair, Professor of Urology and Nephrology at Mansoura University, at the activities of celebrating Arab Health Day at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, Under the slogan “The Impact of Climate on Health” and honoring the winners of the Arab Doctor Award for the year 2023.

In the presence of Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population and Head of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Health Ministers, Prof. Abdel Haq Sayhi, The Algerian Minister of Health and chairman of the current session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers, Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General, Head of the Social Affairs Sector, Counselor. Maysaa Hadmi, Supervisor of the Department of Health and Humanitarian Aid at the League of Arab States, and Ambassador Maryam Al-Kaabi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Egypt.

With the participation of the ministries of health in the Arab countries, the permanent delegations of the Arab member states to the League of Arab States, the regional office of the World Health Organization for the Eastern Mediterranean region, the Arab Council for Health Specialties, the Arab Organization for Administrative Development, the Arab Hospitals Union, many United Nations organizations and international organizations concerned with health, and representatives of institutions, civil society concerned with health and sustainable development, experts, specialists, researchers, and those interested in health and climate issues, and a number of public figures, Prof. Ashraf Shoma, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University, also participated in the celebration.

            Prof. Cherif Khater expressed his pleasure at being present at this important event, which addresses two very important topics, the first of which is paying attention to the impact of climate change on health, and the second of which is celebrating honoring the winners of the Arab Doctor Award for the current year. He added that Prof. Ahmed Shokair receiving this award at the Arab level is a source of pride for Egypt and Mansoura University for his efforts in the medical field at the local and international levels. He also extended his sincere greetings and appreciation to the doctors who won the Arab Doctor Award for the current year, wishing them continued success in their humanitarian mission.

During the celebration of Arab Health Day, two working sessions were held, the first entitled “The Impact of Climate on Health Care Systems” and the second entitled “The Health Care Sector coinciding with Climate Change: Building Sustainability and Resilience.”
