A delegation from the University of Sharjah visits Mansoura University to discuss joint cooperation

On October 8th , 2023, Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, received a delegation from the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates to discuss opportunities for joint academic and research cooperation.

The delegation included Prof. Salah Taher Al-Hajj, Deputy Director of the University of Sharjah for Community Affairs, Prof. Faker Gharabieh, Director of the Research Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences.

In the presence of Prof. Mohamed Attia Al-Bayoumi, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs and Supervisor of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Dr. Ahmed Al-Adl, General Supervisor of the International Students Administration, and Ms. Sahar Al-Eraki, Director of the administration.

Prof. Cherif Khater welcomed the delegation of the University of Sharjah to Mansoura university, stressing the depth of the historical ties and links between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, pointing out the importance of cooperation between Arab universities, especially the University of Sharjah, which has achieved a high position among universities locally and internationally. He added that Mansoura University is the first accredited government university in Egypt that has been established for more than 50 years. It includes 18 faculties with various specializations, established on an area of 300 acres. It has more than 60 specific programs at the undergraduate and 45 programs at the post graduate studies. 10 faculties were accredited, in addition to two legal studies programs in English and French were accredited at the Faculty of Law at the level of law faculties in Egyptian universities.

He said that the university has published more than 26,000 scientific papers as it includes some of the most influential scientists in the world, according to Stanford databases. He added that the university has won many awards at the level of Egyptian universities, where the university won first place for best environmentally friendly university, and first places in digital transformation, and the best website as well. University students also won first places in competitive research and innovation projects.

Prof. Mohamed Attia Al-Bayoumi said that Mansoura University awards 190 undergraduate degrees, including 160 specific programs. The university also has two mutual programs with foreign universities at the University of Manchester, namely the Mansoura-Manchester programs at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. The university works, through its strategic plan, to create specific programs that work to meet the new requirements of the local and international labor market and contribute to obtaining distinguished job opportunities for graduates.

Prof. Salah Taher Al-Hajj, said that the University of Sharjah is keen on the cooperation with Mansoura University to achieve its strategy in accordance with the vision of its founder, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, which is working on Implementing its vision now is headed by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, by focusing on developing and supporting the educational process to serve the local community, he pointed out that the university is now considered one of the largest and leading educational institutions in education and scientific research at the state level, and is working to enhance joint cooperation with various local, regional and international institutions to benefit from expertise, capabilities and experiences in scientific and academic research.

After the meeting, the delegation visited some centers of excellence at the university, where the delegation visited the training and virtual center at the Faculty of Commerce, the virtual bank and stock exchange, the electronic testing center, the educational halls, the conference hall, a visit to the Faculty of Medicine, and the Urology and Nephrology Center.
