Mansoura University President Participates in Delta University Symposium on Developing Legal Studies

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, participated on May,11th , 2025 in a scientific symposium organized by the Faculty of Law at Delta University. The symposium, sponsored by Prof. Mohamed Rabie Nasser, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Delta University, Prof. Yehia El-Mashad, President of Delta University, and Prof. Tamer Saleh, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Delta University, was held under the title: "Legal Studies: Between Reality and Hope."

The symposium was attended by Prof. Ahmed Gamal El-Din Moussa, Professor of Economics and Public Finance and former Minister of Education and Higher Education, and Prof. Hamdan Rabie, President of Damietta University, along with a group of prominent academic and legal figures in Egypt.

The symposium aims to emphasize the importance of developing legal thought and legal education curricula to keep pace with national and international challenges, and to enhance academic cooperation between Egyptian universities.

In his speech, Prof. Cherif Khater thanked Delta University for this generous invitation, emphasizing the depth of the fruitful relations and cooperation between Mansoura and Delta Universities over the years. He also expressed his gratitude to the distinguished attendees. He discussed the influence of Prof. Ahmed Gamal El-Din Moussa on his academic career, describing him as a "great scholar" who taught him. He thanked him personally for his significant role in developing legal sciences in Egypt. He also thanked Prof. Hamdan Rabie for his valuable participation, emphasizing the importance of convergence between universities to develop legal education. He also emphasized the importance of continuing academic dialogue between Egyptian universities and the necessity of joint work to graduate a conscious legal generation equipped with the knowledge and skills that qualify them to effectively contribute to achieving justice and building the modern Egyptian state.

Prof. Tamer Saleh welcomed the attendees, noting that this scientific symposium falls within the framework of the ongoing effort to advance the legal system academically, research-wise, and professionally. He emphasized the faculty’s commitment to developing its educational curricula to keep pace with national and international changes.

Prof. Mohamed Rabie Nasser welcomed the distinguished attendees, expressing his great pleasure in organizing this scientific event, which reflects Delta University's vision to be a platform for enlightenment and community service. He emphasized that the Faculty of Law represents a pillar of the university's efforts to build national awareness and consolidate the principles of justice.

Prof. Yahya El-Mashad emphasized that the university leadership places the utmost importance on academic activities across all faculties, noting that this symposium affirms the university's commitment to linking theoretical study with practical application, encouraging students to think critically, and participating in building a contemporary legal environment.

During the symposium, Prof. Ahmed Gamal El-Din Moussa spoke about the importance of addressing the challenges facing law schools in Egypt, most notably the shortage of faculty members due to ongoing secondments. He emphasized that this shortage represents a significant burden on the quality of legal education. He also called for intensifying the holding of scientific conferences that discuss the accelerating relationship between law and technology, emphasizing that the future requires graduates who combine legal awareness with the ability to navigate a complex digital environment.

The symposium featured a distinguished practical demonstration of a mock court by students of the Faculty of Law at Delta University, reflecting their deep understanding of legal theories and their ability to embody them in a realistic, practical manner, which won the admiration and praise of the attendees.
