Mansoura University President Receives Hungarian Ambassador to Discuss Academic and Scientific Cooperation

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, received on November,19, 2025 in his office the Ambassador of Hungary to Cairo, Dr. Rita Viktorija Herncár, accompanied by Ms. Barbara Eva Horváth, Cultural Attaché at the Hungarian Embassy. The meeting aimed to strengthen international cooperation and develop academic partnerships with Hungarian educational institutions.
Also present were Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and the Deputy Directors of the International Relations Office: Assoc. Prof. Yousra El-Far, Assoc. Prof. Shady Awny, and Dr. Youssef Gamil.
The meeting focused on discussing ways to enhance cooperation between Mansoura University and Hungarian universities in the areas of scientific research, joint study programs, academic scholarships, and research project partnerships, as well as exploring opportunities for student and faculty exchange.
During the meeting, Prof. Cherif Khater welcomed the Hungarian Ambassador and the Cultural Attaché, emphasizing the university's pride in Egyptian-Hungarian relations and its commitment to building effective cooperative ties with Hungarian universities in the fields of education, scientific research, and academic exchange. The university president emphasized its commitment to strengthening international academic cooperation, expanding joint programs, facilitating student and researcher exchanges, and activating advanced research projects. This aligns with the university's strategy for internationalization and enhancing its competitiveness. He welcomed the establishment of new partnerships that offer genuine opportunities for integration in the fields of innovation and applied research.
Ambassador Rita Herncár expressed her appreciation for Mansoura University, noting its distinguished position as one of the leading institutions of higher education in Egypt and its remarkable progress in scientific research and academic programs. She explained that relations between Egypt and Hungary are deeply rooted in history and witnessing increasing cooperation in education, culture, and academic exchange. She pointed out that Hungarian universities host a growing number of Egyptian students through exchange and scholarship programs, reflecting the strength of the ties between the two countries. She also noted the promising opportunities for expanding cooperation and expressed her eagerness to strengthen the partnership with Mansoura University in the coming period. She affirmed the embassy's commitment to supporting educational initiatives, joint projects, and expanding student and researcher exchange programs.
Prof. Tarek Ghalwash said that the university is keen to strengthen its international relations with distinguished educational institutions, thus providing genuine opportunities for the exchange of academic and research expertise. He added that the university closely monitors global scientific research trends and seeks to establish strategic partnerships with European universities to provide a comprehensive educational and research environment for students and researchers.
During the meeting, the university president presented an overview of its capabilities and achievements, as well as its strategy aimed at developing the educational system according to international standards and leveraging global expertise to prepare graduates capable of meeting the needs of the local and international labor market. He also presented the university's accomplishments in international programs and academic partnerships, highlighting success stories in research centers and university hospitals. He further proposed initiatives to open new avenues for cooperation in medical, engineering, scientific, and humanities disciplines.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Cherif Khater presented the university's shield to the Hungarian ambassador in appreciation of her visit and support for academic cooperation initiatives. Commemorative photographs were taken to document the meeting.
Following the meeting, the delegation was given a tour of several university facilities, led by Prof. Tarek Ghalwash. The tour aimed to showcase the university's capabilities and technological infrastructure, paving the way for exploring joint programs and exchanging academic and research expertise. The tour included a visit to the Vertebrate Paleontology Center at Mansoura University, where the delegation learned about the center's capabilities and its pioneering research specializations, which have made it one of the leading centers in the region for paleontological studies and scientific discoveries. This was followed by a visit to the Urology and Nephrology Center to learn about the latest research and applied programs in the medical field, as well as the advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities offered by the center.
The tour concluded with a visit to the university's "Intilaq" Information and Communications Technology and Entrepreneurship Company. Discussions focused on proposals for collaboration on joint projects in innovation and technology, and the integration of artificial intelligence applications into university entrepreneurship projects. This collaboration aims to familiarize the Hungarian side with the university's scientific and technological capabilities, paving the way for future joint programs and projects.
At the end of the visit, the Hungarian Ambassador participated in the third Scientific Excellence Celebration at the Faculty of Law, where she witnessed part of the honoring activities and a presentation of examples of the faculty’s achievements, reflecting the embassy’s interest in academic communication and supporting scientific excellence pathways within the university.
