Mansoura University organizes its 4th international training course in kidney transplantation with the participation of trainees from 12 countries

Under the patronage of Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, and Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President of Mansoura University for Graduate Studies and Research, Mansoura University is organizing its fourth international training course in kidney transplantation with the participation of trainees from 12 countries. The course includes live broadcasts of surgical procedures and advanced practical training according to the latest international standards. Mansoura University inaugurated the fourth international training course in kidney transplantation (Hands-On Training). The course, held from February 8th to 11th, 2026, at the Urology and Nephrology Center at Mansoura University, is part of the university's commitment to supporting advanced medical training and promoting specialized medical fields.
The opening ceremony was attended by Prof. Ghada El-Qanishi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. El-Shaarawy Kamal, Executive Director of University Hospitals; Prof. Ahmed El-Hefnawy, Deputy Director of the Urology and Nephrology Center; Dr. Yasser Othman, the course's scientific coordinator; and a number of faculty leaders, professors of urology and nephrology, and experts and specialists. This is the fourth international training course in kidney transplantation, with 30 trainees from 12 countries participating: Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Libya, Iraq, Germany, Ghana, Somalia, Nigeria, Cameroon, Mauritania, Burundi, and the United States.
It aims to prepare highly qualified medical personnel in the field of kidney transplantation through a comprehensive scientific and practical program. This program incorporates live broadcasts of surgical procedures within the lecture hall, alongside intensive practical training in the Animal Lab, providing participants with hands-on experience according to the latest international standards.
Prof. Tarek Ghaloush emphasized that Mansoura University, under the leadership of Prof. Cherif Khater, adopts a clear strategic vision to support specialized medical training and link scientific research with clinical application. He noted that organizing this international course reflects the confidence of global medical institutions in the university's capabilities and underscores its leading role in building human capacity and exporting Egyptian medical expertise regionally and internationally. He added that the university is keen to attract trainees from around the world and provide a comprehensive training environment within its specialized medical centers. This contributes to improving the quality of healthcare services, enhancing the efficiency of the university's medical system, and strengthening Mansoura University's position as a regional center of excellence for advanced medical training.
Prof. Ghada Al-Qunaishi said that the Faculty of Medicine prioritizes continuing medical education and community service in its strategic objectives. She noted that this course represents a successful model of integration between academic and practical roles, contributing to raising the level of medical performance and developing the skills of surgical teams.
Prof. Al-Shaarawy Kamal affirmed that Mansoura University hospitals possess advanced infrastructure and cutting-edge technological capabilities, qualifying them to host and implement international training programs of this caliber. He explained that these courses contribute to supporting sustainable institutional development, enhancing the efficiency of medical teams, and implementing the latest treatment systems according to global quality and safety standards. He also commended the world-class level of the Kidney and Urology Center in the field of kidney transplantation.
Prof. Ahmed El-Hefnawy explained that the Urology and Nephrology Center is a leading global center of excellence in kidney transplantation. He emphasized that the course focuses on intensive practical training, handling complex cases, and transferring advanced surgical expertise to participants from various countries.
Dr. Yasser Othman said that the scientific program was designed to combine live surgical demonstrations in the lecture hall with practical training in the animal testing building. This ensures maximum scientific and practical benefit for trainees and keeps pace with the latest global developments in kidney transplantation.
