Mansoura University President Attends Dakahlia's 776th National Day Celebrations at the Umm Kulthum Theater in Mansoura Cultural Palace

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, attended the celebration organized by the Dakahlia Governorate on Sunday evening, under the patronage and in the presence of Major General Tariq Marzouq, marking the 776th National Day. This was the first time the celebration was held at the Umm Kulthum Theater in the Mansoura Cultural Palace.
The celebration was attended by Lieutenant General Osama Askar, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Military Affairs; Dr. Ahmed Henou, Minister of Culture; Major General Ashraf El-Gendy, Governor of Gharbia; Major General Akram Galal, Governor of Ismailia; Major General Dr. Alaa Abdel-Moaty, Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh; Engineer Hazem El-Ashmouni, Governor of Sharqia; Dr. Ayman Attia, Governor of Qalyubia; and Dr. Ayman El-Shehabi, Governor of Damietta. Also present were Mr. Daniel Panov, Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria; Prof. Hamdan Rabie, President of Damietta University; Prof. El-Saeed Abdel-Hadi, President of Horus University; deputy governors; members of the House of Representatives and the Senate; military and security leaders; Muslim and Christian religious figures; journalists and media representatives; executive leaders of the governorate; a number of leading executive experts; the family of the legendary singer Umm Kulthum; and a large gathering of the governorate's residents.
Prof. Cherif Khater said that celebrating the National Day of Dakahlia Governorate is a deeply rooted national occasion that evokes the values of heroism and sacrifice exemplified by the people of the governorate throughout history. He emphasized that Mansoura University, as one of the nation's leading academic institutions, is always keen to actively participate in national events that strengthen belonging and solidify national identity. He added that the developmental and cultural progress witnessed in Dakahlia Governorate reflects a conscious vision and institutional integration among state bodies. He pointed out that the revitalization of the Mansoura Cultural Palace and the revival of the Umm Kulthum Theater send a clear message about the importance of culture in human development, alongside education and scientific research.
During his speech, the Governor of Dakahlia welcomed the attendees, expressing his appreciation for their participation in the governorate's National Day celebrations, which fall on February 8th each year, commemorating the victory of the people of Mansoura over the campaign of Louis IX, and the profound meanings of sacrifice and redemption that this occasion embodies. The governor noted that this year's celebration coincides with the reopening of the Mansoura Cultural Palace to resume its enlightening and cultural role. He emphasized that the governorate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, was keen to revive this cultural landmark, making it a beacon of creativity and human development, and a supporter of the cultural and artistic movement. He also reviewed the most prominent development efforts and projects undertaken in the governorate across various sectors, with the support of the Egyptian state. He affirmed that the achievements on the ground reflect a comprehensive vision for improving the quality of life for citizens and achieving balanced development in the governorate's centers, cities, and villages.
The Minister of Culture, in his speech, praised the Dakahlia Governorate's active role in the rehabilitation and development of the Mansoura Cultural Palace, emphasizing its status as a cultural and artistic platform befitting the governorate's history and cultural leadership. The ceremony included the playing of the national anthem, a recitation from the Holy Quran, a film about the Battle of Mansoura, a video about the values and distinguished figures of the governorate, and a documentary about the life of the legendary singer Umm Kulthum. A presentation highlighting the most prominent achievements of the Dakahlia Governorate during the past period was also shown, and the event concluded with a musical performance by the artist Marwa Nagy.
During the celebration, the Governor of Dakahlia honored a number of sponsors and civil society leaders in recognition of their community contributions to supporting and implementing service and development projects in the governorate.
It is worth noting that, prior to the official start of the celebration, Major General Tariq Marzouq received a number of distinguished guests participating in Dakahlia's 776th National Day celebrations at the governorate headquarters. During the reception and honoring ceremony, Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, was presented with the governorate's shield in appreciation of Mansoura University's pioneering role and active participation in national events. This was part of a broader ceremony honoring prominent attendees who have made significant contributions to supporting development and national work.
