Mansoura University concludes its first AI Summit Week 2026, reaffirming its leadership in supporting innovation and digital transformation.
Under the patronage of Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, and the leadership of Prof. Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Mansoura University concluded its first AI Summit Week 2026, organized by the Faculty of Engineering under the theme "Towards a Sustainable Digital Future," with the participation of 16 Egyptian universities, including public, private, and national institutions.
The closing events of the week were held in the presence of Prof. Sherif El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Essam El-Gohary, Assistant Minister of Local Development for Digital Transformation; Dr. Mostafa Thabet, Digital Institutional Development Expert at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, representing Eng. Ghada Labib, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology; Prof. Abeer Tawakkol, Executive Director of the Artificial Intelligence Engineering Program and Supervisor of the Week; Dr. Ahmed Hussein, Coordinator of the Week; Prof. Ahmed Madin, Professor at Nile University and President of IEEE Egypt; Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Fattah Abdel-Azim, Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the Higher Institute of Commerce and Computers in Mansoura; and a number of academic leaders, experts, and specialists.
The final day featured several specialized scientific sessions that discussed issues of digital transformation, smart legislation, and artificial intelligence applications in various sectors. Leaders and experts from ministries and technological institutions participated, and speakers reviewed the Egyptian government's efforts in supporting technological innovation and employing artificial intelligence to achieve sustainable development. The closing program also included the forum's closing ceremony, which featured the presentation of the summit's final recommendations. These recommendations focused on the importance of strengthening cooperation among Egyptian universities in applied scientific research, supporting specialized academic programs in artificial intelligence, and expanding partnerships with governmental and industrial entities. This collaboration aims to develop qualified personnel capable of leading the digital transformation and serving national development plans.
During the ceremony, participating university delegations were honored for their active participation and scientific contributions. Student teams that won scientific competitions were also recognized, and awards were presented to the best projects participating in the accompanying scientific exhibition. This recognition aimed to foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and positive competition among students.
Prof. Cherif Khater said that the extensive scientific engagement and outstanding applied projects achieved during the "First Artificial Intelligence Summit Week" reflect the university's success in transforming scientific events into genuine knowledge-making platforms that serve the community and support the state's digital transformation plans. He also explained that Mansoura University continues to adopt major national initiatives in the fields of artificial intelligence and advanced technology, and to expand its partnerships with various universities and institutions, contributing to the preparation of generations capable of leading the digital future and achieving sustainable development in line with Egypt's Vision 2030.
Prof. Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumi, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, affirmed that the forum achieved its objectives in raising students' awareness of the latest artificial intelligence applications and opening fruitful channels of communication between students from different Egyptian universities. He pointed out that the projects presented reflected the extent of the effort exerted to prepare a generation capable of transforming knowledge into practical solutions that serve society.
Prof. Sherif El-Badawy also explained that the success of the forum reflects the university's insightful vision in supporting modern programs and promoting applied scientific research. He emphasized that the outstanding level of the student projects and the accompanying scientific exhibition demonstrates the quality of the educational process and the college's ability to lead scientific initiatives in the fields of advanced technology.
Prof. Abeer Tawakkul noted that the forum provided a genuine opportunity for exchanging experiences and discovering young talent. She emphasized that the significant interaction between students and experts contributed to bridging the gap between academic studies and real-world applications, and fostering a culture of innovation and digital transformation within the university community.
This event underscores Mansoura University's belief in the importance of investing in the potential of young people, supporting their innovative ideas, and transforming knowledge into tangible development tools that serve society and meet the demands of the future.
