President of Mansoura University Participates in the Supreme Council of Universities Meeting Chaired by the Minister of Higher Education at Luxor University

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, participated in the periodic meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, chaired by Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, at Luxor National University. Prof. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Council, and other members were also present.

The Council expressed its gratitude to the Luxor University community, headed by Prof. Sabreen Abdel-Galil, for hosting the meeting, praising the excellent organization and hospitality.

During the meeting, the Minister of Higher Education commended the significant efforts made by university leaders, faculty members, teaching assistants, and administrative staff during the end-of-semester examinations for the 2025/2026 academic year, appreciating the discipline and organization achieved across Egyptian universities. The Minister also praised the achievements of Egyptian universities in international rankings, most notably the inclusion of 83 Egyptian educational institutions in the January 2026 edition of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities. He further noted the presence of Egyptian universities in most disciplines covered by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject, reflecting the development of the higher education and scientific research system in Egypt.

Prof. Ayman Ashour emphasized the importance of universities continuing to organize student visits to the Cairo International Book Fair, considering it a vital cultural platform that allows students access to diverse sources of knowledge, contributes to raising awareness of intellectual and national issues, and fosters the development of university students capable of critical thinking, analysis, and positive participation in society. He directed the swift completion of examination procedures and the timely announcement of results to enable students to register for courses at the start of the second semester, particularly in colleges operating on a credit-hour system. He also stressed the necessity of completing all maintenance work during the current mid-year break, ensuring the readiness of university buildings and facilities, and the availability of occupational safety and security equipment, to safeguard the well-being of all members of the academic community in preparation for the start of the second semester. The Minister also emphasized the importance of strengthening the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem within universities, activating the role of research centers and innovation incubators, encouraging scientific publication in prestigious international journals, and linking scientific research to the goals of sustainable development, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Sustainable Innovation.

The Council reviewed a report on the most prominent activities of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research during January, which included launching the national initiative to support outstanding students in Egyptian universities, the "Future Scientists Scholarship," and inaugurating several new university hospitals, bringing the total number of university hospitals to 146 nationwide. The report also highlighted the signing of several strategic cooperation protocols in the fields of digital transformation, medical training, and cross-border education.

The report further covered the opening of the University Triple Hospital in Minya Governorate, with a capacity of approximately 430 beds, and the opening of the first hotel at Minya University. Additionally, it noted the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the Capital University (formerly Helwan University) and several international meetings aimed at enhancing academic cooperation with various countries and global institutions. The meeting witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between Luxor University and Assiut University in the fields of education, scientific research, and postgraduate studies. The council also heard a presentation on the services offered by the Egyptian Knowledge Bank to support scientific publishing and the development of the educational process.

The council reviewed the work of several committees specializing in media promotion of Egyptian universities, enhancing cybersecurity, preparing studies for allocating land for research purposes, and the competition for the best universities according to the pillars of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
