President of Mansoura University Receives Delegation from University of Hamburg to Discuss Academic Cooperation

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, received a delegation from the University of Hamburg on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, as part of a scientific visit organized by the Department of Middle Eastern History and Civilization at the Institute for Historical and Cultural Studies of the Near East at the University of Hamburg to the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The delegation included Prof. Mohamed Ahmed Khalifa, Coordinator and Head of the Scientific Mission, Prof. Norbert Holz, Professor of Middle Eastern Studies and Civilization, and a number of professors and experts. Also present were Prof. Mohamed Ahmed Abdel Latif, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, and Prof. Sherif El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Mansoura University.
Prof. Cherif Khater stated that the visit reflects Mansoura University's position as an academic center open to intercultural dialogue and international scientific exchange. The visit aimed to enhance scientific and cultural exchange, promote awareness of Egyptian civilization, and support intercultural dialogue. It also sought to explore avenues for academic collaboration with Mansoura University's faculties, particularly the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, in areas of mutual interest. He welcomed the delegation from the University of Hamburg, emphasizing Mansoura University's strong commitment to expanding international cooperation with European universities boasting long and distinguished academic histories. This commitment aligns with the university's efforts to promote academic internationalization and strengthen its regional and international standing, contributing to the goals of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and Egypt's Vision 2030. He added that this visit exemplifies effective academic cooperation based on intercultural dialogue and knowledge exchange. He noted that strengthening partnerships with European universities contributes to disseminating sound scientific knowledge, correcting misconceptions about Egyptian civilization, and highlighting its historical and humanistic contributions to shaping human consciousness.
Prof. Cherif Khater affirmed Mansoura University's full support for academic initiatives that promote cultural exchange and understanding between peoples, and contribute to preparing generations capable of positive interaction with diverse cultures within a framework of mutual respect.
Prof. Mohamed Ahmed Khalifa, coordinator and head of the scientific mission, expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome the delegation received. He emphasized that the visit reflects Hamburg University's commitment to introducing German students and researchers to Egyptian civilization and building bridges of scientific communication with prestigious Egyptian academic institutions, foremost among them Mansoura University.
Prof. Mohamed Ahmed Abdel Latif, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, also noted the faculty's keenness to engage with distinguished international experiences, which supports the development of academic programs, enhances the competence of graduates, and strengthens their competitiveness in the local and international job markets. He affirmed that such visits represent a qualitative addition to the educational process and contribute to linking theoretical study with practical application and direct cultural interaction.
Prof. Sherif El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary integration in supporting international cooperation. He pointed out that Mansoura University possesses distinguished scientific and research expertise in engineering and applied fields, which can be utilized in multidisciplinary joint research projects with European universities, thus enhancing innovation and knowledge transfer.
The delegation members also commended the high level of academic organization and the rich cultural experience they witnessed during the visit. They affirmed that Mansoura University represents a promising academic partner and expressed their eagerness to expand future cooperation in education, scientific research, and student exchange programs, serving the shared objectives of both parties.
Following their meeting with the university president, the delegation proceeded to the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, where they undertook a comprehensive tour of the faculty's various facilities. This included a visit to the restaurant and the teaching kitchen, as well as presentations in English about the faculty and its academic departments, delivered by faculty members, teaching assistants, and a number of students. The tour also included a visit to the college museum, where a detailed explanation was given in both English and German about Egyptian civilization and the museum's role in training students in the Department of Tourism Guidance. The students also visited the college library, learning about its contents and its role in supporting the educational and research process.
The visit concluded with a closing meeting at the office of the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, during which commemorative plaques were exchanged, the importance of continued academic communication was emphasized, and opportunities for future cooperation between Mansoura University and the University of Hamburg in areas of mutual interest were discussed.
