President of Mansoura University Receives President of Al-Ain University in Iraq to Discuss Joint Academic and Scientific Cooperation

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, received Prof. Haider Abdul-Amir Marhoon, President of Al-Ain University in Iraq, and his accompanying delegation at his office today to discuss ways to enhance academic and scientific cooperation between the two universities in various fields. This meeting was held within the framework of supporting educational and research relations between Egyptian and Arab universities.

Attending the meeting from Mansoura University were: Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Ashraf Shoma, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Yasser Lotfy, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry; Prof. Sherif El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; and Prof. Ghada El-Qanishi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development.

The Al Ain University delegation included Prof. Naseer Ali Hussein, Assistant President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Atheer Yousef Odeh, Assistant President for Administrative Affairs; Prof. Firas Faiq Kazem, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; and Prof. Raed Fanoukh, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.

During the meeting, Prof. SCherif Khater welcomed the President of Al Ain University and the accompanying delegation, expressing his pride in this visit, which reflects the depth of academic relations between Arab universities and Mansoura University's commitment to strengthening scientific and academic cooperation with sister educational institutions. He presented an overview of the university and its remarkable progress in education, scientific research, and community service. He highlighted the university's advanced academic and research capabilities, sophisticated educational programs, and modern infrastructure, all of which contribute to supporting innovation and enhancing the quality of the educational process. He emphasized that the university's strategy to expand international academic cooperation aligns with the directives of the political leadership and is consistent with the National Strategy for Higher Education and Egypt's Vision 2030. This strategy supports the expansion of international partnerships and strengthens Egypt's position as a regional hub for education and scientific research. He also noted that Egyptian-Iraqi relations are characterized by deep historical ties and strong human and cultural bonds, forming a solid foundation for any academic or scientific cooperation between their educational institutions. He expressed his welcome for establishing an effective scientific partnership with Al Ain University, which would contribute to the exchange of expertise and the development of joint programs, serving the interests of students and researchers in both countries.

Prof. Haider Abdul-Amir Marhoon expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Prof. Cherif Khater and Mansoura University for their warm welcome and hospitality. He affirmed Al Ain University's commitment to building strong academic relations with the prestigious Mansoura University, praising its scientific and research achievements and its distinguished standing at both the regional and international levels. He added that Al Ain University is working to develop its academic programs and enhance its research activities, noting its keenness to expand scientific cooperation with Arab universities and exchange academic expertise, which contributes to supporting the quality of higher education and developing educational outcomes. He also announced his university's desire to host Mansoura University's postgraduate programs in the fields of medicine, dentistry, and engineering, which would contribute to supporting scientific cooperation and the exchange of academic expertise between the two sides.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides exchanged commemorative shields as an expression of the depth of academic relations and the desire of both parties to strengthen joint cooperation.

The Iraqi delegation also toured several faculties at Mansoura University, including the Faculties of Dentistry and Engineering, to learn about the advanced educational, research, and technological capabilities, and to familiarize themselves with the modern laboratory equipment and academic facilities.
