Mansoura University President Receives Delegation of Members of Parliament and Senate to Strengthen Cooperation and Support Medical and Educational Services

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, received a delegation of members of the parliament and the Senate at the university administration building. The meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the university and representatives of the people, supporting comprehensive development efforts and community service in Dakahlia Governorate.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Prof. Ashraf Shoma, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; and Prof. El-Shaarawy Kamal, Executive Director of University Hospitals.

The meeting focused on reviewing the university's vision and strategic action plan, which aligns with Egypt's 2030 Vision for Sustainable Development. Discussions also centered on potential avenues for support, particularly regarding the development of educational and research infrastructure and enhancing the capabilities of the medical sector within university hospitals. This aims to improve the efficiency of medical services provided to citizens in Dakahlia Governorate and neighboring governorates.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation with members of the Senate and the Parliament within an integrated institutional framework. This cooperation aims to effectively address citizens' needs and enhance the university's ability to fulfill its educational, research, and community mission.

In his address, Prof. Cherif Khater welcomed the members of the Parliament and the Senate, congratulating them on the trust placed in them by the people of Dakahlia following their victory in the recent constitutional referendum and the commencement of the new legislative term. He stressed that this trust represents a national mandate and responsibility, requiring the utmost effort to meet the aspirations of the citizens. He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the members of both houses for their past legislative role, commending their efforts in supporting the university and its vital initiatives during the previous period.

The university president affirmed its commitment to ongoing and constructive cooperation with the people's representatives, praising the existing collaboration. He also highlighted the continuous and effective cooperation with Major General Tarek Marzouk, Governor of Dakahlia, commending the governorate's efforts in implementing development projects and improving services. He emphasized the university's dedication to leveraging its scientific, research, and medical capabilities to support local development plans and national initiatives, within the framework of integrated roles among the state's executive, legislative, and academic institutions to serve the people of the governorate. He also expressed the university's pride in having several of its faculty members serving in the House of Representatives and the Senate, both appointed and elected. This reflects the confidence placed in its scientific and community leaders and strengthens institutional communication.

In a related matter, the university president extended his gratitude and appreciation to the administration of the university hospitals, represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, the Executive Director of the hospitals, the directors, faculty members, physicians, nursing staff, and administrative personnel. He commended their dedicated efforts in providing outstanding medical services despite the challenges, affirming that supporting this sector is a top priority for the university.

Members of the Parliament and the Senate expressed their sincere thanks and appreciation to the University President and its leadership, praising Mansoura University's pioneering role in academic, medical, and community fields, and recognizing the vital role of the medical sector as a cornerstone of healthcare for the people of Dakahlia.

During the meeting, the representatives raised several issues, including supporting the establishment of the new emergency hospital project, as well as supporting the construction of new hospitals outside the residential areas of Mansoura to alleviate pressure and facilitate future expansion. They also discussed a number of issues related to developing the educational process, supporting infrastructure, and enhancing the quality of services provided to students.

The representatives affirmed their full support for the university in all its endeavors and their readiness for ongoing coordination to provide all possible support and overcome legislative and procedural challenges, thereby serving the public interest and improving the level of services provided to citizens.

In this context, University leaders affirmed that Mansoura University's operational system is based on strategic integration between the education, scientific research, and health and medical services sectors. This integration is achieved within an institutional management framework that relies on long-term planning, performance measurement, and maximizing resource utilization. This ensures the development of the educational process, the enhancement of applied scientific research, and its alignment with the needs of society and the labor market. They pointed out that the medical sector represents a key strategic pillar for the university due to its role in providing specialized medical services to millions of citizens, in addition to training medical personnel and supporting clinical research. They emphasized that its development requires continuous support for infrastructure, equipment, and human resources. Furthermore, they stressed that deepening the partnership with members of the House of Representatives and the Senate contributes to the efficient allocation of resources, supports decision-making based on scientific principles, and achieves a sustainable developmental impact that improves the quality of life for citizens in Dakahlia Governorate.

The meeting addressed the challenges facing the university hospital sector, which require legislative and financial support, particularly regarding infrastructure development, modernization of medical equipment, and the provision of sufficient funding. This includes supporting the allocation of necessary financial positions to appoint more resident physicians and assign an adequate number of nursing staff to meet the volume of services provided and the increasing pressure on the medical sector.

The meeting also discussed ways to enhance cooperation with the Health Directorate, the General Authority for Health Insurance, and specialized medical councils in areas of common concern. The university's role as a technical and advisory partner in the governorate across various development projects was emphasized, along with the role of the university's Center for Engineering Studies and Consultations in preparing studies and developing scientific solutions to traffic problems and improving roads and infrastructure.

Both sides also stressed the importance of joint work on all files that contribute to raising the level of services provided to citizens in the governorate, and working to solve existing problems in a scientific and systematic manner, reflecting the spirit of joint work and institutional integration, and translating into tangible results that contribute to supporting the development process and achieving a decent life for the people of Dakahlia Governorate.
