- Hits: 6

As part of Mansoura University's commitment to fostering a spiritual atmosphere and promoting Egyptian cultural identity on campus, a giant Ramadan lantern adorns the university's entrance for the second consecutive year. Erected to bring joy and happiness to all university members, visitors, and passersby during the holy month, the lantern stands approximately 6 meters tall and 4 meters wide. Its artistic design is inspired by the traditional Egyptian lantern, utilizing a variety of materials that carefully preserve the authenticity of this craft, a prominent feature of Ramadan celebrations in Egypt.
This year's design also includes illuminated gates inspired by Islamic heritage, serving as backdrops for photographs. Students, faculty, staff, and visitors can capture their Ramadan moments in an atmosphere that reflects the spirit of the holy month, enhancing community engagement within the university and creating a festive and organized atmosphere that respects aesthetic and cultural values.
Prof. Cherif Khater, the university president, stated that holding the Ramadan lantern event for the second consecutive year reflects Mansoura University's commitment to extending its mission beyond classrooms and laboratories. He noted that the university is keen to integrate its academic and educational roles with preserving Egyptian cultural heritage, thereby strengthening students' sense of belonging and national identity, especially during occasions with a spiritual and social character, such as the holy month of Ramadan.
Prof. Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumi, the university's vice president for education and student affairs, affirmed that this initiative comes within the framework of supporting student activities that combine cultural and humanitarian dimensions. He explained that the Ramadan atmosphere on campus contributes to spreading a spirit of camaraderie and closeness among students, faculty members, and staff, and reinforces the positive values that this holy month represents.
