Mansoura University President Inspects Readiness of Three Medical Centers Ahead of Second Phase Opening

Prof. Cherif Khater: The project is a qualitative addition to Mansoura University's medical services system, with investments of 570 million Egyptian pounds.

The second phase includes 196 beds, 15 operating rooms, and 33 neonatal incubators.

Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, accompanied by Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Engineering Consultant to the University President, inspected the three medical centers project at the university hospitals to monitor the readiness of medical and service equipment and the progress of work, in preparation for the imminent operation of the second phase of the project. This is part of the university's plan to complete the system of specialized medical centers and enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens.

The tour was attended by Prof. Ashraf Shoma, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Sherif El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Mr. Saad Abdel-Wahab, Secretary General of the University; Prof. El-Shaarawy Kamal, Executive Director of University Hospitals; Prof. Wael Zakaria, Director of the three medical centers; Prof. Khaled El-Toukhy, Deputy Director of the centers; Mr. Ayman Zaki, Administrative Director of the centers; as well as representatives of the implementing companies and officials from the Engineering Department.

The visit comes as part of monitoring the work and final preparations for the completion of the second phase of the three medical centers project. This phase includes equipping and operating the inpatient wards specializing in neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and obstetrics and gynecology, in addition to operating the operating rooms for these specialties, intensive care units, neonatal intensive care unit, and natural childbirth ward. It also includes all the units that were piloted earlier this year, including the cerebral catheterization unit, clinical pathology laboratories, anatomical pathology laboratories, neurophysiology unit, and rheumatology and physical therapy unit.

Prof. Cherif Khater affirmed that Mansoura University is continuing its efforts to develop its healthcare system in line with the directives of the political leadership and the realization of Egypt's Vision 2030, keeping pace with the latest global systems in providing medical care. He noted that the project comes within the framework of the university's strategy to expand the scope of specialized medical services and enhance its leading role in providing advanced healthcare services to citizens. He indicated that the project represents a qualitative addition to the medical services provided by Mansoura University, contributing to the enhancement of advanced treatment services and the performance of delicate surgeries using the latest medical technologies. He pointed out that the total investment in the project amounted to 570 million Egyptian pounds. He added that the opening of the second phase of the project contributes to increasing the capacity of the medical centers to 196 beds, in addition to the operation of 15 operating rooms, including 6 surgical suites, 4 rooms for cesarean sections, 2 operating rooms for cesarean sections, and 3 surgical endoscopy rooms, as well as 12 intensive care beds and 33 neonatal incubators, thus enhancing the ability of university hospitals to provide specialized and advanced medical services. He explained that Mansoura University hospitals provide medical services to a large population of nearly 20 million citizens, reflecting the importance of expanding the establishment of specialized medical centers to meet patients' needs and support complex surgical interventions. This will positively impact the level of healthcare services provided to patients and reinforce Mansoura University's leading role as one of the largest medical and scientific centers in Egypt.

Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Azim affirmed that the three medical centers project represents a qualitative leap in the development of healthcare services provided by Mansoura University hospitals. He pointed out that the equipment for the next phase was installed according to the latest medical and engineering specifications, keeping pace with global advancements in healthcare. He added that the university is committed to continuously monitoring the readiness of the medical and service equipment at the centers to ensure their full operational capacity in the coming period. This will contribute to providing specialized medical services that alleviate the burden on patients and offer comprehensive healthcare according to the highest quality standards.

The tour included an inspection of the inpatient wards at the Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Surgery Centers, which have been fully equipped with medical and nursing services, as well as the completion of the equipment for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. At the conclusion of the tour, the university president emphasized the necessity of completing all preparations according to the highest medical and engineering standards in anticipation of the upcoming opening. He affirmed that the operation of the three medical centers represents a significant step towards strengthening Mansoura University's position as one of the leading medical and scientific institutions in Egypt and the region.

The three medical centers project is one of the major medical projects being implemented by the university to support the specialized healthcare system. The project, situated on an area of ​​approximately 7,900 square meters, comprises three specialized medical facilities: an orthopedic surgery center, a neurology and neurosurgery center, and an obstetrics and gynecology center. The project has a total capacity of 750 inpatient beds, in addition to 40 intensive care beds, 33 neonatal incubators, 20 operating rooms with a capsule system, and 11 operating rooms for obstetrics and laparoscopic surgery.

The centers are staffed by a distinguished group of faculty members from the relevant departments of the university's Faculty of Medicine. Many of these faculty members received their scientific and practical training at leading international medical centers in Europe, America, and Japan, contributing to the provision of advanced medical services according to the latest global standards, while also supporting the university's educational and research activities.
