President of Mansoura University signs a cooperation protocol for Delta Universities Alliance, "the largest alliance of its kind" between academic and productive institutions in the Delta region

Prof. Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, signed a cooperation protocol of the Delta Universities Alliance, in the presence of Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research

The alliance is the largest of its kind at the scientific, research, industrial and investment levels, between academic and productive institutions in the Delta region. It includes 14 public, national, technological and private universities, which are: (Tanta, Mansoura, Menoufia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Damietta, Sadat City, Mansoura National, New Mansoura, Menoufia National, Delta for Science and Technology, Horus, Delta Technology, Samanoud Technology, and Al-Salam Private ), representatives of the Union of Egyptian Industries “New Damietta Branch”, and from the private sector; Intlaq Company for Communications and Information Technology, Tanta Motors Company, and Sanabel Al-Khair Agricultural Solutions Company

Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour said that this protocol comes in implementation of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research, one of its most important principles is the achievement of integration between educational, industrial and research institutions and the business sector to implement Egypt’s vision for sustainable development, "Egypt 2030", he also said that the protocol of the Delta Region Alliance is the 4th  after the protocols of alliances of universities and production institutions in the northern region, central Upper Egypt and southern Upper Egypt, indicating that this step sets a model for concerted official and civil efforts, and contributes to accelerating development rates in the Delta region, by developing scientific solutions and implementation plans for all the problems and challenges facing the agricultural and industrial sectors and the various productive institutions in the region, as well as employing the capabilities of academic, and scientific institutions, to serve all the development needs facing the Delta region. He added that the alliance aims to qualify graduates for the labor market, support medium, small and micro projects, develop the role of the small economy in growth rates, activate the role entrusted to scientific and research institutions by providing scientific and research support for new and emerging ideas, innovations and projects, and maximizing the use of human skills in national educational institutions. Enhancing the participation of the private sector and investment, economic and agricultural institutions in supporting and developing the national economy, implementing Egypt’s vision for sustainable development, and achieving integration and sufficiency in the industrial, agricultural and technological fields.

Prof. Ayman Ashour announced providing a financial support from the Academy of Scientific Research and the Science, Technology and Development Fund (STDF) for the most important projects resulting from regional alliances of universities with production institutions.

Prof. Cherif  Khater, emphasized the importance of alliance and cooperation with universities and community institutions, and linking major institutions to Egypt’s plan for sustainable development, and in implementation of the recently launched national strategy for higher education and scientific research.
